Mount Bold Reservoir is South Australia's largest reservoir. The 1.4 km walk (return) to the viewing platform is gentle. For the more enthusiastic walkers, there are more than 13 km worthh of trails around the reservoir itself.
A hidden treasure in the hills. Mt Magnificent is not an easy climb, but it is well worth the view when you are there.
Kuitpo Forest is just across the road. Bring a torch along with you, and go for a walk to try and spot Kangaroos, Possums and Koalas. Remember - there is no such thing as only one Kangaroo. If you spot one, there are probably 20 behind the next tree!
Forest Gate Cottage is right on the Heysen Trail, making it an ideal stop over for bush walkers.
15 minutes away is the historic township of Willunga. While the Saturday Morning Farmers Market is a must, the Willunga Almond Blossom Festival in July brings the township to life, and should not be missed.
A beautiful winery, situated on a peaceful lake, K1 Winery is one of the most ideal places for a wedding or just to walk around.
Roughly 45 min south east of Forest Gate Farm is the magnificent Lake Alexandrina - where the Murray River meets the Ocean. This is a wonderful location, surrounded by quaint villages, ideal for walks and water sports.
Less than 20 min away is the beautiful township of McLaren Vale. The visitors centre is a great First Stop to find out about all the local markets, events, exhibitions, activities.
Whether you choose to visit the Saturday markets in Willunga or Mt Barker, or the Sunday Markets at Stirling or Meadows... With so many country fairs and farmers markets in the area, there is always something to do.
